24th July 2023, the DETA Conference 2023 organized by Busitema University, Makerere University, and University of Pretoria was officially opened with an emphasis on attracting dynamic solutions to bridge the gap between distance education and the changing technologies. The Vice-Chancellor Prof Paul Waako graced the event.  DETA's major objectives are to contribute to the debate on teacher training in Africa and to build capacity for the delivery of teacher training programmes in Africa.
